About

The title of this blog, “teeth like rabbit ears”, is from a conversation I had with my five-year-old niece about the scariest monster she had, in her young life, ever seen. The reference, of course, was to the shape of this horrid beast’s teeth. I, however, being rather fond of both double-meanings and sound, immediately thought of the rabbit ear antennas by which my folks still intercept television and radio waves in their humble Indiana home. Wasn’t there an episode of Gilligan’s Island where Gilligan was picking up a radio signal with the fillings in his teeth? Yes, I believe there was. Perhaps having teeth like rabbit ears, in addition to making one a rather fearsome beast, implies some sensitivity to certain cultural frequencies which are otherwise overlooked by the white-toothed and smilies of the world.
